DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Isaiah 2:6-22
The Day of the Lord
I think things are starting to make sense (well I think they are starting to make sense), the passage talks about the pride of men and how they turn away from God. Something which is as true today as it is in the time of Isaiah. Today men pride themselves with their knowledge forgetting to ask wisdom from God. They pride themselves in their money, which they think is the only wealth that matters. They pride themselves on their own skills forgetting that all of those came from God (when I say they that doesn't exclude me).
I have soared with my pride thinking that I'm in great heights but in truth I'm just barely off the grounds. I think my mom was right that God has to strike your knees (huh! sounds so brutal), so that you learn how to kneel. Learn how to ask help from God, learn that anything and everything comes from Him.
I have been struggling lately with my relationship with the Lord, with all the stress I'm experiencing (from home to school to everwhere else), because I tried to fix everything in my own capacity and forgot to ask Him who is always able to help.
I felt God has been silent to me for some time, not realizing that I was the one who is covering up his ears, I want to be back in His presence and declare in my life that in me everyday is A Day of our Lord.
My Prayer Requests: Wisdom and strength in my work(I'm also praying if I am really suppose to be there or I'm just staying because of the fear that I might not be able to take root somewhere else), good health for me and my family (especially to my wife who has been suffering from different ailments, from the migraines in her head to pains in her stomach I know that God can heal her - I ask that you keep her also in your prayers) and last of my prayer items is to be able to live life to the fullest, I know that life is a bit difficult right now with all the things that are happening in the world but God promised wonderful plans for us, I think something that we must all hold on to.
Isa 2:6-22
6 For you have rejected your people, the house of Jacob, because they are full of things from the east and of fortune-tellers like the Philistines, and they strike hands with the children of foreigners.
7 Their land is filled with silver and gold, and there is no end to their treasures; their land is filled with horses, and there is no end to their chariots.
8 Their land is filled with idols; they bow down to the work of their hands, to what their own fingers have made.
9 So man is humbled, and each one is brought low-- do not forgive them!
10 Enter into the rock and hide in the dust from before the terror of the LORD, and from the splendor of his majesty.
11 The haughty looks of man shall be brought low, and the lofty pride of men shall be humbled, and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.
12 For the LORD of hosts has a day against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up--and it shall be brought low;
13 against all the cedars of Lebanon, lofty and lifted up; and against all the oaks of Bashan;
14 against all the lofty mountains, and against all the uplifted hills;
15 against every high tower, and against every fortified wall;
16 against all the ships of Tarshish, and against all the beautiful craft.
17 And the haughtiness of man shall be humbled, and the lofty pride of men shall be brought low, and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.
18 And the idols shall utterly pass away.
19 And people shall enter the caves of the rocks and the holes of the ground, from before the terror of the LORD, and from the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth.
20 In that day mankind will cast away their idols of silver and their idols of gold, which they made for themselves to worship, to the moles and to the bats,
21 to enter the caverns of the rocks and the clefts of the cliffs, from before the terror of the LORD, and from the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth.
22 Stop regarding man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he?
